Trust is an increasingly scarce commodity in the business world, and now more than ever, leaders who develop high-trust relationships within their organisations outshine the competition, according to GPTW co-founder Amy Lyman in her new book, 'The Trustworthy Leader'.

Amy was interviewed on Newstalk 106's Breakfast Show on 22nd March 2012 before delivering the closing keynote at our recent Great Workplace conference. 

How does a leader's trustworthiness propel an organisation to excellence? Since cofounding the Great Place to Work^® Institute in 1991, Amy Lyman has devoted her career to that very question. In The Trustworthy Leader, Amy draws on these twenty years of research and on extensive interviews to show how leaders actually build and maintain this foundation of trust in their workplaces.

Amy Lyman was a co-founder of the Great Place to Work^® Institute.  During her tenure she developed the Institute’s consulting services in the United States, and oversaw the finance, legal and operational activities of the entire organization. She served as President of the Institute for a time, and as Chair of the Board of Directors, leaving that role in 2008.

During the past few years she has studied the qualities that distinguish Best Companies from good companies, focusing on the role of the trustworthy leader. She has written numerous articles on this topic and has been a featured speaker at management workshops and conferences.  Honesty and integrity are central to her work.

Amy received her Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and her B.S. from the University of California, Davis. She began her consulting work while a research fellow at the Wharton Center for Applied Research at Penn.
