When you talk to people about Google (one of Ireland’s Best Large Workplaces 2012) the conversation will usually turn to their unique office environment complete with bean bags. But what many people don’t realise is the role that this office environment plays in the success of this organisation.

Yes, there is a reason for all this. Having an open plan office environment where employees can gather in an informal, relaxed space complete with the humble bean bag, encourages a culture of collaboration and innovation – key drivers of Google’s success.This environment has allowed employees like Christopher Lotebo and Filip Lidman (both Dublin based employees) develop their business idea.

“Our idea relates to how it is possible to create more relevant ads and content online using existing and new information. Google agreed that it has great revenue generating potential and helped us to apply for a patent in the US.
